Bachelor Party Guide

Bachelor parties are a time for grooms to relax with their friends. Nothing is as essential to a great bachelor party than the people. As a groomsman, it is your job to coordinate with the other groomsman to make sure your friend has a great time. While the groom is occupied with pre-wedding things, you can make sure all groomsman are supportive and ready for a good time. Getting everyone on the same page and hyped can make the difference in making it event to remember.

The length of the party matters too, but the mechanics are less important than the group of guys getting together. Bachelor parties are commonly done over a weekend, but can be condensed to a single day as well. Weekend long parties often involve some sort of travel, with Las Vegas, Nashville, or Miami being common destinations. If you’re planning a weekend getaway and want to really make the groom’s day, try to think about places the groom loves or a new adventure he has wanted to go on. Fun alternatives could include hiking in California redwoods or the eastern Appalachian Trail, or taking a ski trip to Vail or Stowe

If you choose to stay closer to home that doesn’t mean the evening can’t be memorable. Traditional activities include splurging on a top restaurant, bar hopping throughout the city, going to a local sports event, or spending time outdoors. Physical activity can also be a great way to spend some time together. Exercise releases endorphins that help improve mood. Some activities to consider are golfing, hitting the beach, paintballing, white water rafting, or fishing.

Regardless of the plans time and budget allow, there are a few key things to keep in mind when planning the event:

  • Plan the day out in advance but make sure to build in flexibility. Having a plan keeps everything running smoothly, but accidents and delays are inevitable. Flexibility and breaks in the day to relax will help keep the energy level high for all events.
  • Schedule time to eat throughout the day. It’s common to try to cram in as many activities as possible. Eating is a nice way to build in a break while also keeping up everyone’s mood and energy.
  • Don’t waste time being hungover. Drinking is a core part of the bachelor party tradition, so make sure to be prepared. Check out Ralli’s alcohol health products for a scientific approach to mitigating time hungover.
  • Bring clothes and accessories for all planned (and unplanned) activities. It’s easy to get caught up in the event and end up unprepared. Making sure you have a checklist and reminding that friend who always forgets stuff will keep the day running smoothly.

A bachelor party is a great time for the groom and his best friends to get together and enjoy themselves before the wedding. Planning the event can be as big or small of an undertaking as you desire - what’s most important is that the group has fun. Oh, and that the groom doesn’t get into too much trouble.
